Automotive Technician PDF Print E-mail

PLCC's Auto Tech program is designed to prepare individuals interested in entering the exciting field of auto repair. This program will also benefit individuals already working in the field who are interested in becoming ASE certified, or have a desire to gain more knowledge. Students will learn the proper diagnostic procedures that make troubleshooting complex problems a simplified task. This requires good reasoning ability and a thorough knowledge of automobiles. Reading, mathematics, and computer skills are emphasized to keep up with new technology, new services, repair procedures and specifications. Students must provide a copy of a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. The cost of 2 ASE certification exams are included in tuition. Class size limited to 15 students.

The Auto Tech program is based on the NATEF core curriculum: Engine performance, automotive electricity and electronics, steering and suspension (including wheel alignment), and brakes (ABS. ETC, ESC). Additional topics include: Engine repair and rebuilding procedures, systems multiplexing, 4-wheel drive, manual transmission, drive trains and axles, and heating and air conditioning.

Program is eligible for Financial Aid
Tuition inlcudes - Class fee, textbooks, supplies, and uniform where required.
