Portage Lakes Career Center provides students with several opportunities for on-the-job experiences. One of those is the Early Placement Program. In the second semester of the senior year, students are given the privilege of half-day paid employment in a training station related to their vocational program.
Early Placement eligibility requirements:
- Students must have a “C” average or above in all lab and related courses.
- Students must be passing all academic subjects.
- Students must have all fees paid or be on a payment plan.
- Students may have no more than seven (7) absences in the first semester.
- Employment must be for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
- Students must receive recommendation from the program instructor for placement.
All paperwork (Teacher Recommendation, Training Agreement, Student Responsibility Work Agreement, and Parent Permission Slip) must be completed before a student is permitted to start early placement.
