Pell Grant Funding Requirements
The following types of financial aid are available at Portage Lakes Career Center.
Federal PELL Grant: A Federal Grant that can provide an eligible student with monies that can be applied to the cost of tuition, fees, books, and equipment. Students enrolled in a program of at least 900 clock hours in length can receive a Federal PELL Grant of up to $5550 per year. Students enrolled in 600 clock hour programs can receive a PELL award of up to $3700, respectively. Because this is a grant program, these monies are not repaid by the student.
Federal STAFFORD Loan Program: This program allows eligible students to borrow money at a low rate of interest. Monies borrowed from this program must be repaid. Repayment of the loan begins six months after the student graduates or withdraws from the Career Center.
Veterans Education Benefits: Interested students should contact the Financial Aid Office for application assistance.
Workforce Investment Act (WIA): This funding can provide assistance to unemployed and low income students. Call your local "one stop" office for information.

To remain eligible for Pell Grant funds, a full-time student must maintain satisfactory academic progress (C average) in addition to a minimum of 90% attendance. Students not in compliance with the attendance policy will be responsible for paying any financial aid expected to be received from the U.S. Department of Education.

a. Sign in with your FAFSA PIN
b. Read the information provided regarding the loan process, interest rates, and repayment
c. Complete "Entrance Counseling"
d. Complete and submit the "Master Promissory Note (MPN) for Subsidized or Unsubsidized.
e. Contact Amanda Holodnak at 330-896-8123 to have your loan certified for the amount you want to borrow
4. Go to http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/ to complete "Exit Counseling" before the last loan disbursement
The Direct Student Loan will be disbursed to the school in two separate payments from the U.S. Department of Education. One half of the loan will be disbursed in the Fall and one half will be disbursed in the Spring, depending on the class start date. The school adheres to the policies and procedures set by the U.S. Department of Education, The Auditor of the State of Ohio, and the Portage Lakes Career Center Treasurer's Office for all disbursements. Loan funds will be first applied toward tuition costs. Any balance of funds will be refunded to the student. Students will be notified when refund checks are available.

- An interest free tuition payment plan is offered by the Adult Education Department for most training programs.
- The cost of the program will be divided into payments (depending on the length of the class) with an initial payment due at the time of registration.
- Monthly payments are due the 1st of each month beginning with the month the program begins for Part-Time Programs.
- For Full-Time Programs, students can choose a monthly payment plan or a quarterly payment plan.
Other aid - Local agency funding such as offered through WIA (Job and Family Services), Veterans Assistance, and Trade Adjustment Act. Apply at local offices.
